SHOUTOUT MIAMI had the good fortune of connecting with Kristina Saltzman and we're sharing the conversation below.

Hi Kristina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The four of us started Soléi Sea because we saw a void in the flip-flop and causal sandal market—none were both comfortable and chic. Living in South Florida, we had tried so many pairs and never found ones that could easily be worn all day, from beach to dinner and everywhere in between. Developing our own line came out of a casual conversation two of us had in the car about how uncomfortable flip-flops are. It came to us quickly—that we should do this ourselves, bring something to the market that didn’t already exist, a new take on an old classic. And who better to build a business with than your best friends?!

What should our readers know about your business?
We’re so proud of Soléi Sea. We’ve been in business a little over a year and it has been filled with crazy ups and downs, temporary setbacks, and huge wins. And we just keep hustling every single day. We are passionate about our sandals, their comfort, and their style. We are also passionate about being eco-minded and giving back. The more we grow, the more we can pay it forward and help other women start businesses or follow their passions.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We live North of Miami in Delray Beach. When we have friends in town we take them to Jimmy’s Bistro for the amazing food, Alley Cat Boca for the drinks and scene, and Dada to hear music or have a nightcap. The beach is so incredible here, spending time there is what most out of towners want to do. But there is so much more to South Florida. Shopping on Atlantic Ave. is always fun. Visiting The Norton Museum of Art in West Palm is fabulous, or if you’re going South, head to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens for a truly unexpected, unique treat.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We believe that our success is the result of so many hard-working, supporting, and amazing women—friends, colleagues, sisters, mothers—they’ve all played a role in creating this dream. So we dedicate Soléis to every woman, to all women really, who definitely deserve a collective shoutout. And our dogs. Definitely need the love of our dogs to do this.
